Little House on the Prairie NBC Series Where To Watch

little house on the prairie tv show

The television series was directed by Michael Landon, William F. Claxton, Maury Dexter, Victor French, and Leo Penn. These were not casual fans, but those with custom shirts ("In a world of Nellies, be a Laura") and wore bonnets and calico dresses. They carried books, posters, vintage lunch boxes and aprons to get autographed. A Japanese anime television series of 26 episodes (about 24 minutes each), originally entitled Sōgen no Shōjo Laura.

Previously, Caroline had scratched her leg on a piece of baling wire, and the minor scratch turns into a serious infection. Unable to summon help, she is about to succumb to her illness, but she is inspired by a passage in her Bible to perform a painful procedure, which later impresses even Doc Baker. The pilot film inspired a miniseries in 2005 which was also heavily inspired by the novels of the same name. The three movie specials listed below were produced to tie up loose ends to storylines on both the two main series and those opened up in Hello and Goodbye. Little House explored many different themes including frequently portrayed ones of adoption, alcoholism, faith, poverty, blindness, and prejudice of all types, including racism.

In this three-hour special, the Ingalls family spends Thanksgiving reminiscing their past years in Walnut Grove (via clips from previous episodes). The only person she can find to help her is Sam (Burl Ives), who is almost blind, but still able to find his way in the forest. Together, they manage to get Charles to Sam's cabin and then they go out to find medical help. The majority of the episodes run approximately 50 minutes (not counting commercials, they have since been edited for syndication to accommodate more commercial time). Expanded episodes (90 minutes to 2 hours) have been indicated as such; many of these may not currently be shown in some rerun markets due to their length.

Episodes

Mrs. Oleson finds an old Walnut Grove Bearer Bond and, claiming that she is owed over $14,000 in unpaid interest, uses it to have the town renamed Olesonville. However, when she wants her compliant husband elected as mayor, she encounters unexpected opposition from some of the town's oldest inhabitants. James, wanting to open a savings account with his birthday check from Uncle Jed, walks into the bank as it is being robbed. James is shot and critically wounded, and the doctor tells Charles that the injuries are potentially fatal. Charles and Mr. Edwards, and later Albert, against Charles' orders, set out to track down the villains. Charles and a friend, Jack Prescott, deliver some tables, hand-made by Charles, to a store in Minneapolis, for which Charles makes a few "as a hobby".

Caleb Hodgekiss, an ex-convict, finds him and takes him to his house where his wife takes care of him. Hodgekiss volunteers to get the donations from Walnut Grove, but plans to take the donations for himself. However, his experiences with the people of Walnut Grove, especially Mary, bring about a change of heart. When Christmas comes around, all the Ingalls are caught up in the secrecy and excitement. Charles and Mary take jobs to obtain gifts for their loved ones, but Laura cannot think of what to give or how to raise money, until she realizes she has something of value in her horse, Bunny, which Nels Oleson (Richard Bull) wants to buy for Nellie.

The rest of the regular series premiered on the NBC network on September 11, 1974, and last aired on May 10, 1982. Based on the book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Ingalls family struggles to survive in 1870s after settling on a farm near a small rural town in Minnesota. To celebrate the 40th Anniversary in 2014, NBCUniversal restored and re-mastered the pilot and all nine seasons. The series is now available for the first time ever in high definition on Blu-ray and on Digital HD.

Sales dry up and Charles decides that his greatest legacy will be his children. But later, one of his tables with his 'CI' mark is bought as a prized antique at an auction approximately 100 years later in the then present day (1982). The characters Mary and Adam had taken a back seat and only appeared a handful of times in the 7th season. Melissa Sue Anderson decided to leave the show, and only appeared in 2 episodes of season 8. She appeared briefly in The Reincarnation of Nellie Part 1, and as a guest star in The Christmas They Never Forgot. Subsequently, the shots of her running down the hill with her sisters were removed from the opening theme.

When Laura announces that she is expecting a baby, Caroline says that she is also. Later, she finds out from Doc Baker that she is not expecting but is experiencing an early menopause and cannot have any more children. This devastates Caroline, who has tried to birth a surviving true male heir for Charles and fears she is worthless to him now because this is now impossible. Laura and Almanzo clash again over their different aspirations for their marriage, and this is aggravated when Laura comes to believe that Almanzo is having an affair with one of his former girlfriends, Brenda Sue. Laura returns to her family, saying she wants to leave Almanzo, and even picks a fight with Brenda Sue.

Pilot movie premiere (

Mary accidentally sets the barn on fire while cramming for an important school competition. Almanzo upsets Laura by asking another girl to the circus; Nels denies a circus-performer relative. William Randolph Hearst helps Charles, Laura and Albert bring a dying boy to visit the ocean. The children plot to scare Mrs. Oleson into returning an old woman's (Hermione Baddeley) home. Matthew meets the father who abandoned him; a famous author stays at the Wilder boarding house. Mrs. Oleson asks Miss Beadle to talk with the father of a boy who wants to date Nellie.

The men are all reluctant to sign, including Nels, who is in the middle of another big disagreement with Harriet. Charles and Almanzo also oppose it, even though they believe in equality and joint ownership in their own marriages. So Caroline moves out of the house and organizes other wives in a mass 'walk out' from their matrimonial duties. Eventually, the husbands, led by Charles, decide that they can support the petition, and marital peace and harmony is restored. Rev. Alden falls in love with a member of his congregation and marries her, but almost comes at a cost when Mrs. Oleson attempts to tear their relationship apart, distressing the Reverend to illness. Mrs. Oleson reports Rev. Alden to church leadership, but the tables turn when the minister representative (William Schallert) turns out to be her former fiancé, who broke their engagement when unable to commit to serving "both God and marriage".

An unusual football game convinces a father (John Ireland) his blind son deserves an education. Most people wanted to see Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura; Karen Grassle who played Ma/Caroline Ingalls; or Alison Arngrim who played Nellie Oleson. Some cast members have appeared at smaller tributes, but this was the first time most of them were together.

Mr. Edwards leads a harried but courageous effort to save the two men's lives. Mary is severely injured when a horse kicks her in the stomach while she is putting him away in the barn. When her condition deteriorates, it becomes clear she needs an expensive surgery to save her life. Charles and Mr. Edwards are forced to take dynamiting jobs for the railroad to fund the surgery. The Galender brothers settle in Walnut Grove, causing trouble for the entire community by intimidating and terrorizing the inhabitants. Laura is tricked into adopting a "unique" billy goat, named Fred, but he quickly becomes unpopular when he helps himself to the Ingalls family's crops and exhibits a particularly unpopular behaviour.

Just as Mary falls in love with newcomer Seth Barton (Robert Kenneally), her nearsightedness begins to worsen. Charles takes her to an optometrist and she initially appears to need stronger lenses, but the vision still worsens a few days later. She returns to the eye doctor, who discovers she had scarlet fever a few years back. The resulting nerve damage means Mary's vision cannot be saved, and she will soon go blind.

He keeps her secret and allows her to be an unrecognizable clown at the circus. Laura seeks revenge on Christie when she becomes a guest clown for the circus, dumping water on her and, after she runs off, kissing Almanzo. Later at the circus, Nels announces [as the ring master] to all in attendance that Annabelle is his sister and how proud he is of her. Nellie discovers that Laura has "borrowed" a music box from her room and decides to blackmail her. In order to stay quiet about Laura's crime, Nellie demands that Laura abandon her new friend Anna (Katy Kurtzman), who has a stutter, and join her new club.

After Jack dies suddenly of a heart attack on the return trip, and after which his farm is sold and his nameplate casually tossed into the kindling by the new owner, Charles decides he wants to do something to be remembered for. Soon after, a fierce blizzard snows them in, and they all have to stay the night. Caroline, Almanzo, Laura and Hester-Sue recall Christmas memories from when they were children.

Caroline nurses her and sees loathingly to her husband Horace's basic needs until he threatens her with bodily harm after which she lashes back with a fire torch. With Caroline and Hester-Sue run off their feet at the restaurant, Harriet signs up with a franchise which promises greater efficiency and more profit, and the restaurant is renamed "Mrs. Sullivan's Kitchen". Unfortunately, Harriet has not read the small print in the contract, and the onerous conditions result in everyone's life becoming even more busy. When Charles reluctantly has to take over the cooking at home, he gets together with Nels to work on a plan to release Harriet from her contract and get things back to normal.

“I wanted to be clear about what it was like for me to work with Michael Landon on Little House, what it was like to work with Wilford Brimley on Our House, to talk about the days. What was it like to be on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine when you're in your early twenties? He portrayed James Cooper Ingalls, the second adopted son of Caroline and Charles. They first met in the 1980s when Cannon auditioned for Landon's series Father Murphy.

Laura’s Wedding Cake Recipe – Traditional and Blueberry Topping Variation

When her grandmother begs Charles for help, he has an idea for a way to help Olga, despite her embittered father Jon's (Jan Merlin) lack of support. Jon happens to be overly protective of his child's safety and doesn't want his daughter to go anywhere in her condition, even to a point of wanting to keep her isolated, much to his mother's (Olga's grandmother) dismay. Then, when the Ingalls girls have their own party with their friends from school, Laura exacts her revenge on Nellie. Written by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the book is autobiographical, though some parts of the story were embellished or changed to appeal more to an audience, such as Laura's age. In the book, Laura herself turns five years old, when the real-life author had only been three during the events of the book.

It was really hot during filming

Putting food on the table might've been hard work for Ma Ingalls, but behind the scenes, the show kept things simple — and cheap. Dinty Moore beef stew and Kentucky Fried Chicken, with a side of Pillsbury biscuits. Suddenly, that kitchen table looks a lot less like a romantic vision of times gone by. But while Landon was happy to convert crushes into ratings, he didn't always like fans hanging around the set ogling him.

Seasons 8 & 9 contain the three post-series movie specials as extras, with "Look Back to Yesterday" and "The Last Farewell" appearing on Season 8, and "Bless All The Dear Children" appearing on Season 9. None of the available releases of the series contain "The Little House Years", which was a three-hour Thanksgiving special aired during Season 6 that largely consisted of flashback clips. Gilbert played Laura for nine seasons, growing up from the little girl in braids to a married mom. She has starred in TV movies and series, appeared on "Dancing with the Stars," wrote two memoirs, served as the president of the Screen Actors Guild, and acts in plays and musicals. Milo Stavropoulis is a former Greek champion wrestler forced to become a jobber in order to pay for his ailing wife Anna's continued medical treatment. His boss, an unscrupulous professional wrestling promoter persuades Jonathan to compete for a large money prize in his shady wrestling competition in Mankato, duping him into facing the current champion Hans.

He thought Landon strayed too far from the books in giving the Ingalls family an easier life. As he said, "I've renamed the series 'How Affluent Is My Prairie?' They have everything but a Cadillac." The main man of the little house, Charles Ingalls, or Pa, was a hard-working, honest, salt-of-the-earth kind of guy. Before he became America’s favorite father figure, Michael Landon lit up the screen as Little Joe Cartwright on Bonanza. Not only did he play Pa, he wrote, directed and executive produced the show.

She was also a regular on the game show Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour. In 2002 she won a Young Artist Award and in 2006 was honored (if you want to call it an honor) with TV Land’s "Character Most Desperately in Need of a Timeout" award. When she took on the role of Ma, or Caroline Ingalls, Karen Grassle was an undiscovered newcomer. Despite her lack of credits, she auditioned to play Laura Ingalls' no-nonsense mom and won the part. After Little House ended its run, Grassle said adios to Hollywood and moved to New Mexico where she opened Santa Fe’s Resource Theater Company. She did return to California eventually and landed a part in Kevin Costner’s Wyatt Earp.

The family includes mother Caroline Ingalls, father Charles Ingalls, elder daughter Mary Amelia Ingalls, and younger daughter (and protagonist) Laura Ingalls Wilder.[30] Also in the story, though not yet born historically, is Laura's baby sister Carrie. First, episodes from the show were available on VHS through a Columbia House club subscription. They contained two episodes per tape and also are the only commercially available episodes that are uncut, unlike the DVDs. All "ten" seasons (counting the three final television movies as the tenth season; the pilot was released on an individual DVD) have been released in North America on DVDs in region one format. Also to note, the region one DVDs come with interviews of Dabbs Greer, Alison Arngrim and Dean Butler. The interviews were conducted by Little House historian Patrick Loubatière.

In 2005 The Wonderful World of Disney aired a mini-series based on the Little House on the Prairie book and produced by ABC/Touchstone Television in association with Ed Friendly. He agrees to move to the city to work full-time on producing the tables for a trial period before selling the farm and moving the entire family and things go well at first, until a big furniture manufacturer copies the table and underprices them. Sales dry up and Charles decides that his greatest legacy will be his children. But later, one of his tables with his 'CI' mark is bought as a prized antique at an auction approximately 100 years later in the then present day (1982).

The continued popularity of the show led to the appearance of Katherine MacGregor (Harriet Oleson) on 625 Lineas and Ding Dong in 1980. In an episode of the Mary Tyler Moore Show, titled "The Co-Producers", Mary Richards and Rhoda Morgenstern attempt to make their own talk show. When Mary asks Rhoda if she could change something on television, Rhoda mentions Mrs. Oleson.

Ellerbee's real goal is just to win, which for him proves manhood and pride, but his demands upon the boys' time leads him to a confrontation with Laura as their teacher. Soon, Albert and the others find football is not so much fun, and when Ellerbee's single-mindedness endangers Albert's well-being, Charles has to step in. Albert then decides that his priority is his studies and that for him football should be for fun.

People expected to see Melissa Gilbert being chummy with the other Melissa — Melissa Sue Anderson, who played Mary, Laura's sister. In an interview with AJC, Anderson put it tactfully, saying, "I honestly do not have a lot of memories of the two of us. We were very, very different." She was a lot quieter and, in her words, less "zany" than Arngrim and Gilbert. And with such a popular series, it should come as no surprise that there are quite a few behind-the-scenes stories and fascinating facts for diehard fans. From backstage trivia and secrets of the show's success to its lasting place in viewers' hearts, there's a lot to talk about when it comes to examining the untold truth of "Little House on the Prairie." She continued to act, appearing as a guest star on The Love Boat and Fantasy Island.

Ask a child to draw a neighborhood, and they’ll likely offer an image of a squares with a triangles on top, not doodles of round houses. Though walls with right angles and pitched roofs may be the most common archetype when it comes to residences, circular homes are arguably more interesting, simply because of how unique they are. Round design stretches back centuries—think igloos, teepees, and yurts—and the designs of many historic cultures are often based on circular forms. Many of our home plans have photos from customers that show how the same design was built by different clients customized to fit individual needs, budgets, and building lots.

Our design team can make changes to any plan, big or small, to make it perfect for your needs. Our Cost-to-Build Reports will get you the cost to build a specific house design in a specific zip code. Our portfolio is comprised of home plans from designers and architects across North America and abroad. The display section features a raised floor, a tiered roof, and a built-in BOX block, creating a visually interconnected fluid space with undulating silhouettes, multi-dimensional mapping, and organic forms. This area serves both as a gallery and exhibition space, with an art installation with contrasting colors and lighting as the central hub. The open office space offers visual permeability and clean lines, featuring large floor-to-ceiling windows that merge the interior with the exterior.

Designboom has received this project from our DIY submissions feature, where we welcome our readers to submit their own work for publication. For you to take the time to answer my email in detail, personally, is unprecedented, in my experience. Styles of homes include Craftsman, French Country, Southern, Mediterranean, Farm, Coastal, Ranch, and much more. With over 45 styles to choose from, you're sure to find your favorite.

Most concrete block (CMU) homes have 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 exterior walls on the 2nd story.

A vibrant cultural and entertainment area is included for clients’ children, featuring music, study, and physical training spaces including a climbing wall. The music room’s design incorporates futuristic elements and changing colors for a dynamic atmosphere. With a focus on lightness and translucency, the study area features light-emitting ceiling films and curved elements. In addition to simply requiring less building materials, they are typically more energy efficient compared to square homes. Circular homes are also more resistant to hurricanes and extreme weather, as wind blows around them, diverting a buildup of pressure on one side.

We highly recommend that you click on two boxes – the number of bedrooms you know you need, and one less bedroom. For example, if you need 4 bedrooms, click on the boxes next to 4 and next to 3. Otherwise you will not see homes where existing rooms on the lower, main, or upper levels might work perfectly well as a bedroom instead of as an office, study, etc. We highly recommend that you click on two choices – the number of bedrooms you know you need, and one less bedroom. For example, if you need 4 bedrooms, choose 4 from the drop down list and also choose 3.

Lestat senses Louis' dissatisfaction with life and offers to turn him into a vampire. While Lestat revels in the hunt and killing of humans, Louis resists his instinct to kill to Lestat's annoyance, instead drinking animal blood to sustain himself. Interview with the Vampire is a 1994 American gothic horror film directed by Neil Jordan, based on Anne Rice's 1976 novel of the same name, and starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. It focuses on Lestat (Cruise) and Louis (Pitt), beginning with Louis' transformation into a vampire by Lestat in 1791. The film chronicles their time together, and their turning of young Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) into a vampire.

The narrative is framed by a present-day interview, in which Louis tells his story to a San Francisco reporter (Christian Slater). In anticipation of the movie's silver anniversary, The Hollywood Reporter checks in with the actors who breathed life into the dead and undead characters of Interview With the Vampire.
